About the Bureau
The Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs (BLGCA), Benue State, was established to oversee the administration and operations of the 23 local government councils, facilitate the appointment and recognition of traditional rulers, implement policies and programmes to enhance rural community development, as well as monitor and evaluate the performance of local government councils.
Prior to now, the Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs (BLGCA)
was called the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. .

To be a dynamic and reform-driven institution that guarantees efficient, transparent, and people-centered local government administration in Benue State, while preserving the dignity of traditional institutions and promoting sustainable development across all communities.
Our Vision
To provide effective supervision, coordination, and support to the 23 Local Government Councils in Benue State. To ensure transparency, accountability, and due process in grassroots administration. To strengthen local governance systems, promote community development, and safeguard chieftaincy affairs. To build staff capacity through innovation and ICT while promoting strategic partnerships for sustainable local development.
